    Song for the Dreamless
    Jul 6 - Jul 16, 2019, Yell Space, Shanghai

Two outdoor LED letter screens stand and rotate, casting red and blue lights across the gallery space.

Increasingly pervasive today, LED letter screens oversee the nights of almost every streets in Chinese cities. The screens speaks not only to human beings, but also to the voids. Predominantly now filled with governmental campaign slogans, socialist virtues and visions of future to be expected, the messages might well be seen as a performative form of expression. What really matters is not the messages on display but the way how propagated monochrome colors occupy spaces. It was through lights and colors that power claims authority.

It is believed that external stimuli get incorporated into dreams. If, the radiation of lights and colors can facilitate the yet-to-come collective dreams incorporated into individual's minds, can we also fabricate personal dreams in the same way? Song for the Dreamless is a new era therapy room designed for people who fail to make dreams of their own.
